Middle TN Ultrasound offers a variety of OB/GYN diagnostic and elective scans. We can provide elective exams for general ultrasound.
Elective ultrasounds is a non-medical ultrasound that is performed for nondiagnostic purposes. They are not covered by insurance. Although the exams are not diagnostic, we will keep an eye out and notify your doctor if needed.
Diagnostic exams are ordered by your doctor typically looking for something specific. They are usually read by a Radiologist. They can be covered by insurance, however we do not bill insurance at this time. We can provide a detailed receipt for you to turn into your insurance company.
We are proudly ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certified sonographers.
It does matter. The RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) "credential raises the standard of diagnostic medical ultrasound practice worldwide and promotes best practices for enhanced patient safety and is designed to certify competence in the field of diagnostic medical sonography."-ARDMS.
Ultrasound is generally considered safe for both the mother and fetus during pregnancy. Used since the 1950's it is a common, painless, and convenient procedure that uses sound waves to create a picture. Ultrasound uses soundwaves instead of ionizing radiation like x-ray, and there are no documented reports of adverse fetal effects.
We love doing gender reveals. Whether you prefer a small intimate scan or if you want to have a party and have the scan live with your guests there..
While it may be visible sooner we prefer to be around 18 weeks or later for best images..
No, we want you to be comfortable and relaxed. It is completely up to you who you share these moments with. We can connect to your TV for easier viewing.

4D is the 3D scan in motion.
Please drink a lot of water throughout your pregnancy and then increase your water starting at least 3-5 days before your appointment. The more water you drink the better chance for clearer images. On the way to your appointment (or about 5-10 minutes before) drink some orange juice or eat some chocolate to get your baby moving.
You can schedule an appointment with Middle TN Ultrasound by using our online booking system or by calling or texting us.
This depends on what you want to see. The earlier you are in your pregnancy the more whole body we can get in the image. The later in the pregnancy we can see more facial features.
